With ReSOURCE, MUNICH FABRIC START has established an advanced sourcing platform that demonstrates new dimensions of sustainability for innovative and future-oriented production processes. And created a forum, initiated and supported by experts that provides real solutions for sustainability.
With approximately 800 articles, ReSOURCE has presented the latest sustainable fabric and ingredient developments as well as innovations in the categories during the three days of the fair:

Among the innovations presented are sustainable developments in cotton, wool and hemp in the ORGANIC/NATURAL category. The category RECYCLED shows recycled products from pre-consumer waste, recycled bottles and yarns, but also SEAQUAL-certified goods made from recycled plastic waste. REGENERATED offers vegan fabrics that are certified with the V-LABEL. INNOVATIVE presents innovative materials such as biobased polyamide fabrics or bio plastics.

Right from the start, experts from international certification organisations have accompanied the development of today’s ReSOURCE sustainability area at MUNICH FABRIC START. We introduce our long-standing partners:

Protecting our environment and its people, animals and plants is no longer simply a trendy topic. For the member companies of the International Association of Natural Textile Industry (IVN), sustainability, respect, and responsibility for people and the environment are fundamental values, and the commitment is to implement this attitude in every stage of production and to communicate it to as many people as possible. As a pioneer association, IVN is a trendsetter for natural textiles and natural leather for the press, the public, politics and business. As an industry association, it represents and promotes the specific players in the areas of skilled crafts, industry, retail and service. The focal points of the association’s services are press and public relations work, consulting, education, networks and lobbying. In addition, IVN is the standard setter for two quality symbols for ecologically manufactured products: NATURTEXTIL (Natural Textile) and NATURLEDER (Natural Leather). Both labels are based on implementation requirements set forth by the association, which have meanwhile become industry standards. Moreover, IVN is co-owner of the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), an internationally recognized standard for the manufacture of natural textiles on the industrial level. The member list covers the entire production chain, from suppliers and pre-production facilities to producers and brands to retailers and service providers, thus creating a comprehensive network of “green” industry expertise.
IVN provides consultancy service to members and external textile companies on their way to certification.

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the world’s leading standard for processing of textiles from certified organic natural fibers. In 2017, the number of GOTS certified companies increased to 5,024 certified facilities, which gives brands and companies the chance to source from suppliers in 63 countries. The GOTS certification requires IFOAM’s Family of Standards Organic Production Standards for the raw fiber and sets stringent criteria along the entire textile value chain (including chemical input and ILO social criteria) from field to finished product. Even B2B resellers need to get certified in order to make reference to GOTS in their marketing.
