Not At All Buttoned: Relying on Nature and Sustainability

Sustainability and value are at the top of the agenda for the button manufacturers. Natural materials as well as new, recyclable materials are even more in focus. The number of certifications for ecological and sustainable products and production methods has also increased even further for the manufacturers of buttons and additionals.

Union Knopf, for example, displays vegetable-colored walnut buttons as well as buttons and trim made from 100% Social Plastic, a material made from recycled plastic waste.

“Not more but better” – true to this motto Creativ Knopf extends the collection of high-quality natural materials. For a fashion-conscious customer who is increasingly looking for longer-lasting garments. Grades of shades of brown, colors such as spice stalls oriental markets and soft shades of gray support the tendency to soft, natural and haptic pleasant materials. Classical music is reinterpreted. Traditional designs are unexpectedly implemented and modernized.

The menswear continues to be influenced by retro influences. So cultivated Easyness and modern comfort from the sportswear at Creativ Knopf dominate the trends. Both the classic and casual casual looks benefit from it. Thus, freedom is created to continue the drive of menswear. Black becomes a minimalist matter of course when combined with elegant gray shades. New shades of brown become a futuristic-feeling entity through their combination of accent colors.

Rosenfelder also pays great attention to sustainability in addition to an extensive range of buttons made of natural materials. Thanks to constant research and development in the field of high-quality plastic materials, it has been possible to replace the conventional polyester resins contained in the material with new, eco-friendly bio-based binders. Furthermore, a proportion of recyclable waste is added to these materials.

Soorty: Innovative and Sustainable

Soorty, as a pioneer in technological advances, resource-saving processes as well as state of the art production methods and denim innovations, presents a range of new technological developments for the new Autumn.Winter 20/21 season. The Pakistani denim manufacturer has already received the HighTex Award, the innovation prize at MUNICH FABRIC START, for their overall strategic, responsible and sustainable corporate policy.

One of the key topics at Soorty is FIX-D, one of the world’s first waterless textile dyeing technologies. FIX-D was developed at the NASDA Innovation Lab and expanded with Soorty Denim Mill & Soorty Garment Factories. FIX-D ensures a sustainable and environmentally friendly finishing process due to extremely fast dyeing solutions.
In addition, Soorty offers a range of timeless classics with authentic laser-based vintage washes.
Also in a vintage look are rustic denim types as ‘Neo Pioneers‘ with classic twill weave in various winter white colours, from clear white to elegant ecru.

In a new collaboration with Lola Poelio, the denim specialist launch the collection Lola x Roxy for Soorty, with a new approach to the recycling of textile remnants. Playful, colourful and in a young look. The capsule collection is made only from resourced materials, wastage fabrics and rejected samples as well as other resourced materials.

The focus for Autumn.Winter 20/21 is also on recycling. As the owner of a state-of-the-art recycling facility, Soorty increasingly also uses leftover industrial waste within its product range. The recycled denim fabrics from Soorty have different blending ratios that can range from 5% to 25%, and in individual cases far more. This results in fabrics with various material combinations, weight classes and elasticity levels that meet the target groups’ specific demands in terms of look and feel of the new collection.

Industry Favourite VIEW: High Visitor Count at Season Opening

It has become the favorite show of German and European buyers and designers: The preview fair, VIEW Premium Selection! On July 16th & 17th, visitors once again experienced an informative and inspiring introduction to the new Autumn.Winter 20/21 season in Munich.

With its’ sunny summer weather, the atmosphere in the light-flooded hall of the 1920’s industrial loft was noticeably positive. Already at the beginning of the fair on early Tuesday morning, the stands were packed – so that the fair could close after two show days with a high visitor count.

Due to the dynamics of collection creation, the preview event of the MUNICH FABRIC START with its strategically early date has become a fixture in the trade fair industry calendar. Many international brands and premium suppliers have already begun conceptualizing their collections and value this early date.

Other visitors appreciate the event, because about six weeks before the big textile fairs, the time and calm remains to sift through the collections, with the international designer Johnny Talbot of Talbot & Runhof saying:

“VIEW is a very charming staged event to start the new season. We are surprised by the extensive offer and how many ready-made collections we already see here.”

Like Talbot & Runhof, the designers and purchasing teams of many international brands were present in addition to the Grand of the German Confection, including representatives of Adidas, Cos, Lagerfeld and Tommy Hilfiger. Within the curated offer of the 400 exhibited collections there was a clear focus on exclusivity and individuality. Sustainability in all its complexity was one of the most important and intensively discussed topics between exhibitors and visitors. Overall, the orientation of the VIEW as an early format for new developments, initial color and material trends has again been confirmed.

VIEW is not least an industry event because the concept and ambience of the event promote creative exchange. The focus was on solution-oriented discussions for exclusive product and design developments. And even after the end of the fair, the discussions continued in a relaxed atmosphere in the lounge-like outdoor area for after work drinks and Bavarian food.

Autumn.Winter 20/21: The Meaning Behind the Key Visual

The release of our new key visual marks the start of a new season here at Munich Fabric Start. Over the last few months our team has uniquely interpreted and defined the trends and theme for the upcoming Autumn.Winter 20/21 season. Read more about how trends are made at Munich Fabric Start.

BEYOND AWARE presents a season which is free to explore the ways our world and fashion are changing, proving they are on a new path where everything is connected. Describing a season which is ready to embrace and be part of a new world exploring and developing the relationship between fashion and our planet, through awareness of the beyond.

The designer Julia Boll, at Stein Communication with over 10 years of experience as a graphic designer, has beautifully translated the theme of the new season BEYOND AWARE. Here she tells us more about her thought process and inspirations for this new project.

As a designer, I like to be inspired by as many things as possible. Of course, it always depends on what the specific task requires. Sometimes I am inspired by colors, shapes, newfound objects or it can also be photos and illustrations. I am someone who enjoys spending their free time drawing, mostly of funny characters, which I also then screenprint.

The final design actually came together from two very different designs. I liked the idea of incorporating soap bubbles because it is just not so “spiritual” but fragile. And yet it still transported the topic pretty well. Soap bubbles are cheerful and light and fly very calmly but always with the wind. In addition, they can quickly burst irretrievably, you cannot grab them and although they appear clear they still display many beautiful colors. A bit like thoughts or feelings, but also like fashion. The background of the key visual had been part of another graphic. It works well because it reflects a lot of power while also reflecting an expression of the fast-moving, digitalization as well as the idea that a lot of things are happening and developing in different directions. Many energies are released and you still do not know where to go. Let you guide yourself, beyond aware!

We are looking forward to a great new season!
