TIMELESS, DURABILITY AND ELEGANCE ONE STEP FURTHER:
Tejidos Royo has embraced the sustainable philosophy of circular fashion. Based on this idea, this century company has developed a new collection composed of fabrics that have undergone a process that makes them more durable, long-lasting and color resistant.
Timeless is a new concept from Tejidos Royo that represents the creation of high-quality garments with less impact on the planet, ensuring the garment longevity and encouraging the reparability of garments since these garments are eco-designed to consider the entire life cycle of the product.
Timeless, with improved fabric’s resistance color to domestic washes prevents worn-out appearance on garments, as well as color change. Its durability allows it to stand the test of time, extending the garment’s lifetime.
Tejidos Royo has developed a high-quality finish with the following characteristics and values: 4 at water washy and perspiration fastness, 4 at dry rocking fastness, 40% recovery improvement, and 4 at color change after 30 repeated home laundering. With these results, Timeless fabrics demonstrate their worth.
The first pathway to sustainability is to ensure the longevity and durability of textile products to reduce the consumption of natural resources. Increasing endurance allows longer use and reuse of products, contributing to extending the life cycle of textiles. At the design stage, careful selection of material increases the longevity and durability of textiles. With all these ideas in mind, Tejidos Royo product team have created these impressive and long-lasting fabrics.
“TEJIDOS ROYO’s motto is MAKING THE IMPOSSIBLE.”

Momentum.
What is fashion? Fashion is creativity and expressing yourself. That’s beautiful and it gives every one of us a certain identity. It’s made out of fabrics, so to say “resources”. These resources are finite. However, 30% of overproduced clothes are being dumped every year, equating to roughly 5 million tonnes, or 12 kg per person in the EU. To put it in simple terms: This is not beautiful anymore…
To limit these effects and to promote recycling & repair systems, the European Commission has imposed the “Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation” (ESPR), which sprung to life on July 18, 2024. This isn’t just another piece of legislation. It’s a game-changer for the European market, aimed squarely at making sustainable products the new norm. Think of it as the EU’s bold stride towards a greener future, wrapped up in a robust action plan that redefines how products are designed, used, and recycled.

“This isn’t just another piece of legislation. It’s a game-changer for the European market, aimed squarely at making sustainable products the new norm. Think of it as the EU’s bold stride towards a greener future, wrapped up in a robust action plan that redefines how products are designed, used, and recycled.”

What’s the Buzz All About? Picture this: a regulation that goes beyond mere suggestions and instead puts firm rules into play. The ESPR replaces the older Ecodesign Directive 2009/125/EC and shakes things up by establishing ecodesign requirements that span almost all physical goods. From your favorite sneakers to that nifty new blender, everything is covered!
Digital Product Passport – Your Product’s New ID One of the standout features of the ESPR is the Digital Product Passport (DPP). Imagine a digital ID card for products that holds all the relevant details like where it’s from, what it’s made of, and its environmental footprint. This isn’t just a win for transparency; it’s a revolutionary way to keep tabs on sustainability and make sure products play by the green rules.
No More Wasted Potential Here’s a kicker: the ESPR puts an end to the eyebrow-raising practice of destroying unsold textiles and footwear. Now, brands will need to think twice before tossing unsold goods, thanks to a ban that could extend to other products too. And yes, they’ll have to spill the beans on how much they’re discarding every year. Talk about airing your dirty laundry!
Green Public Procurement: Spending Green to Go Green With public authorities in the EU shelling out a cool €1.8 trillion annually, the ESPR steers these funds towards more sustainable choices. This isn’t just about buying green; it’s about fostering a market where sustainable products are the stars of the show.
What’s Next? The rollout of the ESPR isn’t a sprint but a marathon. Starting with a prioritization exercise and moving through stakeholder consultations and detailed planning, each step is about getting it right—ensuring that every product hitting the market is stepping up its green game.
“Momentum plays a crucial role by providing the technology to create and manage these digital passports for fashion brands & suppliers ensuring compliance and fostering circular product development.”
Which role does Momentum play? Momentum plays a crucial role by providing the technology to create and manage these digital passports for fashion brands & suppliers ensuring compliance and fostering circular product development. The EU DPP is basically “just” a digital tag that represents the origin & composition of fabrics, eco-footprint information, and repair, recycle, and disassembly options. This data needs to be collected somewhere. Otherwise, it cannot be analyzed and displayed in a validated way. Suppliers of brands are scattered all around the world and the communication takes mostly place through phone calls, Email contact, third parties, PLM systems, etc. Suppliers and brands need to speak the same language to not only comply with current and upcoming directives but also to upgrade their communication flow in a digitized and more efficient way. Momentum builds a self-enabling supplier network that collects ESG product data tied to the actual product. Depending on the data, we validate with twelve validation mechanisms to ensure the correctness of primary entries. In this way, we sensitize suppliers and reduce their operational overhead.
That’s the new beauty and future of fashion: self-expression through garments that are not only stylish but also sustainable. This shift towards accountability at every stage of production is set to transform the industry.

Welcome to the world of Cartoon, where you not only look good, but also feel good.

Each piece tells a story of joie de vivre and courage, without compromising on style. The bright colours, unique patterns and high-quality materials are not only a visual highlight, but also reflect the self-confidence that Cartoon wants to convey to its wearers. It’s about more than just the clothes you wear day in and day out – it’s about the feeling of bringing out the best in yourself at every moment and letting your personality shine. With Cartoon you don’t just wear fashion, you wear your optimism. Fashion is much more than just clothing. It is an expression of your personality, your zest for life and your self-confidence. Fashion has the ability not only to change us on the outside, but also to strengthen us on the inside, to give us self-confidence. This is exactly why we need fashion today that inspires, strengthens and encourages – fashion that offers more and doesn’t just blindly follow the latest trends. It should be a reflection of our optimism and encourage us to make the most of every moment.

Our motto is: ‘Wear your optimism’. For us, optimism means always seeing the best and striving for the best. That’s why we think in superlatives: more colourful, more diverse, more imaginative. Fashion can help you discover your true self and fulfil yourself. Our designs are made to brighten up even the dullest of days and give you optimism wherever you go. They challenge you to try new things and make the most of every moment. We combine glamour with a cool, casual touch – the result? Looks that not only look good, but also put a smile on your face and bring pure joy. Each piece in our collection tells its own story – through modern prints, bright colours or casual cuts. These details make our fashion unique and give it depth. We don’t just want you to look good; we want our fashion to inspire you to celebrate the moment, recognise opportunities and boldly seize them. It is the expression of your creativity and helps you to show all facets of your personality.

Knit in Motion by Suzanne Oude Hengel
Born from frustration about past experiences within the textile industry and its unwillingness to stray from the status quo, Suzanne Oude Hengel founded Knit in Motion (KiM). Her goal: to push boundaries, experiment, and challenge the way things are done. KiM breaks down traditional notions of knitting by questioning, examining, and rethinking the craft and its applications, going off the beaten track to explore new territory within textile design.

Suzanne’s graduation project (ArtEZ University of the Arts in Arnhem), “Loop Coloured Feet” (2015), explores the potential of using knitting as an alternative material in footwear. It represents a starting point for many ideas that she continues to investigate including rethinking production methods, reviving older techniques, and focusing on craftsmanship.

A tube and the shape of a sock were the starting point for “Santoni” (created at Santoni in Shanghai in 2016). Working with circular knitting machines allowed Suzanne to develop a different approach to thinking about shape.
“Working with circular knitting machines allowed Suzanne to develop a different approach to thinking about shape.”

For their 50th anniversary, Suzanne was among Timberland’s chosen collaborators for “Timberland Future 73”. Launched at Milan Design Week 2023, the collection opens with the brand’s classic styles and blends them with her world of unexpected colour and material choices, resulting in a reimagined vision for the brand as well as the application of knitted textiles.
“I believe that true innovation comes from a curious and iterative design process.” – Suzanne Oude Hengel

Suzanne’s ongoing research “Spacers” (since 2018) looks at the potential of using weft knitting technology to create spacers. Research includes experimenting with different materials, densities, and final applications. Projects like Timberland Future 73 draw from this body of research, illustrating completely different end-uses for this innovative knitted material.

With “Welded Loop”, Knit in Motion and Studio Joris de Groot collaboratively explore the innovative use of Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) in shoe design by integrating knitting, welding, and 3D printing techniques. Inspired by the discovery of TPU at the Techtextil fair in Frankfurt, the project harnesses the material’s versatility and recyclability. By integrating knitting, welding, and 3D printing, “Welded Loop” not only seeks to innovate shoe design but also aims to inspire new applications and combinations of techniques in textile and material processing, paving the way for future advancements.

Sustainable Innovations – Studio Joris de Groot
Designer Joris de Groot often collaborates directly with factories, setting up his workplace within their grounds to get a deep understanding of their materials and innovate with their existing techniques. This allows him to blend traditional craftsmanship with industrial processes, resulting in unique and sustainable designs.
His project “2000N Pressed Shoe” (2018) emerged from his project “In4nite II” with Freudenberg, a company specializing in car interior materials. Joris explored the potential of Colback®, a material used in car upholstery, to create shoes. By understanding and experimenting with the molding process used in automotive interiors, he transformed Colback® into a fashion material. “2000N Pressed Shoe” is distinctive for its use of industrial techniques to create aesthetic details, showcasing the intricate patterns and textures that arise from this innovative process.
“By understanding and experimenting with the molding process used in automotive interiors, he transformed Colback® into a fashion material.”

“Recycled Raincoat” (2021) is another collaboration between Joris and Dolfing Druten. Together, they tackled the issue of cutting waste from rain jacket production. By researching the shapes of leftover fabric pieces, Joris developed patterns that could be welded together to form new raincoats. This approach not only minimizes waste but also transforms discarded materials into valuable products, highlighting his innovative use of existing resources to create sustainable fashion.
“This approach not only minimizes waste but also transforms discarded materials into valuable products, highlighting his innovative use of existing resources to create sustainable fashion.”
For “Weld Bag” (2013), Joris partnered with Dolfing Druten, a manufacturer of work clothes and rain gear, to develop a collection of bags. He repurposed high-frequency welding techniques typically used for creating waterbeds and rainwear to design unique bag handles and shapes.
“The factory is my playground, searching for new possibilities with the tools I can find.” – Joris de Groot

At the upcoming MUNICH FABRIC START, around 600 international suppliers will present their material innovations for all apparel segments in the FABRICS Area. For the Autumn.Winter 25/26 season, we present some new products and highlights from international producers in our FABRICS blog posts:
RE/UPCYCLE ALPACA BY INCALPACA
In a context where fast fashion is gaining strength among consumers and the use of synthetic and ephemeral materials is favored by brands, Alpaca fibre is becoming a bright spot for a more sustainable and eco-friendly fashion world. The use this fibre in Incalpaca’s garments and products allows them to show their customers that luxury and environmental responsibility can co-exist.
At Incalpaca they are aware of the environmental impact of their manufacturing process and although they know that alpaca fibre is a more sustainable material, it is important to find ways to reuse the waste of this natural fibre to create a more conscious, circular and sustainable fashion. In this way, as part of their commitment, they have developed a highly specialized unit and system to create high quality, durable, ecological and inimitable luxury garments from leftovers, by-products, deadstock and waste, taking advantage of the great qualities of alpaca fibre.

The Re/Upcycle Alpaca project has been recognized in the German Design Awards 2024, organized by the German Design Council, which awards excellence in design based on innovation, industry impact and commitment to sustainability. At Incalpaca they are proud to have achieved the ‘Gold’ level in “Eco Design” category, the highest award in the event. This recognition underlines their commitment to sustainable innovation, the environment and our community. With Re/UpCycle, we can recycle more than 120,000 kilos of fibre per year and reduce the impact of their manufacturing process, promoting a green and sustainable business model.

“RE/UPcycle Alpaca is characterised by its commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility at every stage of the design and manufacturing process.”
Incalpaca winner of the prestigious German Design Award in the Eco-Design category
The Peruvian textile company has been honoured in 2024 with a prestigious eco-design prize from the German Design Awards for its RE/UPcycle Alpaca project.
The prize was awarded in the ‘Excellent Product Design – Eco Design’ category and underlines the brand’s efforts and commitment to creating a product line made from regenerated natural fibre textile waste that is given a new life in everyday products, according to the company.
‘RE/UPcycle Alpaca is characterised by its commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility at every stage of the design and manufacturing process. From the careful selection of recycled materials to ethical production practices, the project embodies Incalpaca’s core values of creating high-quality products with minimal impact on the environment,’ Incalpaca said in its concept.
The German Design Award is internationally recognised for its rigorous judging process and its focus on design excellence, Incalpaca said.
“We are thrilled and honoured to have been awarded ‘Gold’ at the German Design Awards,” said Diego Saca, Marketing Manager. “This success reflects our ongoing commitment to sustainable innovation and spurs us on to continue leading the textile industry towards responsible practices,” he added.
