BLUEZONE HIGHLIGHTS FOR AUTUMN.WINTER 24/25

15. July 2023

AMD X Naveena

We are born with 5 senses. They accompany us for a lifetime. Let us feel, taste, hear our environment, smell and see what surrounds us. Within 5 Groups of mixed courses from students of Fashion Design (B.A.), Fashion & Design Management ( B.A.)and Fashion Journalism & Communication (B.A.) the students from the Dusseldorf based AMD Akademie für Mode & Design, faculty design of Hochschule Fresenius, analyzed the importance and impact of our senses in context of Denim.

Why Denim? Because this beautiful and rich material like no other embodies senses and sensuality the best. In times of digitalization and virtual universes, it is our fabric of choice that symbolizes it´s human connection the best.

Join us on the Blue Zone area in Hall 7 | A 01 and get in touch, hear, feel, smell and also taste what Denim Senses triggers in yourself!

The 5 DENIM SENSES are brought to live thanks to the generous support from Naveena Denim Mills who provided the denim fabrics for this project:

The BERRIT I95 fabric includes hemp and belongs to Naveena’s CANNA DENIM concept which is made of cottonized and mechanical hemp composition around 20%. It is durable, breathable, anti-bacterial, requires 70% less water comparing to cotton and no pesticides. Plus it growths 3-4 times faster than cotton. KEATON I73 combines hemp and Tencel together.

MORGAN B56 includes recycled linen and belongs to Naveena’s LINO+ concept: fabrics with smart linen fiber, created by post industrial waste. They are GRS certified, breathable and moisture wicking.

VIDIC I81: Includes BioHemp and is part of Naveena’s BIOTECH concept. The mill teamed up with Circular Systems in a unique collaboration that transforms agricultural crop left-overs into scalable, high-value natural fiber denim fashion products with their Agraloop™ technology. BIOTECH fabrics are made with natural fiber derived from CBD hemp crop residue and refined into textile-grade fiber called Agraloop™ BioFibre™. These fabrics are also compliant with the Global Recycled Standard and Organic Blend Content Standard.

OLITA B91 and GLENN B56 are part of their RETROTECH concept which is inspired by retro denim heritage and remixing it to modern day living. Retrotech provides wear comfort without sacrificing vintage authentic look. For more comfortable fits, Naveena blended high and lows with stretch resulting in a modern vintage cotton with a stretch blend.

TRANSFORMERS FOUNDATION

Initiated in September 2022, the TRANSFORMES FOUNDATION teamed up with BLUEZONE to join forces to educate and inspire the Denim industry. Their vision is to connect their networks, to share relevant content and profound insights of industry-relevant developments and challenges and to provide information and inspiration – all at once.

On 18 July, the TRANSFORMERS FOUNDATION will hold a panel discussion about the legislative landscape in Europe, the UK, and the USA is evolving quickly and is likely to have far-reaching implications for apparel suppliers worldwide. Trend Preview for AUTUMN.WINTER 24/25

Now available: each other Trend Book & Colour Code

TREND FORECAST Autumn.Winter 24/25

13. July 2023

MUNICH FABRIC START Autumn.Winter 24/25 s all about the seasonal leitmotif EACH OTHER. How can we look into the future without losing our minds? Between utter resignation and blind rage lies a hopeful, wise and unbiased perspective. Our future lies in the diversity of such calm, thoughtful and courageous approaches.

EACH OTHER emphasizes the importance of personal connection. We need to continuously stay in touch with each other, be there for one another and listen attentively – even in difficult times. What’s unique about fashion is that we can promote well-being through a variety of tactile and emotional fabrics and styles – not only in sales and use, but also in the field and in production.

Let’s consciously pursue a common and effective goal: to create something beautiful with fashion and make a contribution to our humanity – for EACH OTHER!

WHAT’S NEW?

A multi-purpose black in combination with a light beige and a new anise are the key colours for Autumn.Winter 24/25. Strange colour duos like yellow/ mango, pink/peach or turquoise/blue bring fresh accents to the colour palette. In contrasts, cold and warm tones play with each other, in dark and light nuances, sometimes loud, sometimes quiet and as neutral or bright colors.

Decorative qualities are a recipe against crisis. Protection wear from cozy, lightweight to heavy weight fabrics are key for winter: a firework of creative yarns in volume, lightness, functionality and fancy combinations. Checks come in all variations, be it loud, quiet, big or small. A touch of trash, tech, nostalgie and 80ies brings bling in all variations. Open weaves or knits bring a nuance of winter transparency.

Casual comfort as standard: functional pragmatic classic and timeless styles come as coats, bomber jackets, suits, casual sakkos or padded styles. We play with extremes in width and wrapping volume for morning coat styles, over-shirts, blazers and baggies. Expressive looks are created for night and day with shine through elements rounded off by retro looks from the sixties, seventies and eighties.

These 5 EACH OTHER trends of MUNICH FABRIC START as well as the 10 denim-, street- and sportswear trends for BLUEZONE under the leitmotif CONNEXXION can be found as a comprehensive trend analysis with detailed colour cards, inspiring materials, moods, prints and styles in our TREND BOOK and COLOUR CODE – available in the trend forums in foyer 2 and 4, the trade show office room B 009 and at the Bluezone check-in counter.

CONNEXXION - SAAT MUNICH

Connexxion – 20 Years of togetherness in denim

H 6 | B 0 7

29. June 2023

Connexxion – The association

The perfect connection is characterized by the fact that the SAATMUNICH Design Studio has been developing conceptual outfits for the Bluezone Hostess in collaboration with exclusive partners since 2016. The selection of these partners is based on the innovation of a weaver and the expertise of the manufacturer in the transformation of the nominated theme.

Connexxion – The relationship

Sajna Weber and Thorsten Bulander, the creative minds behind SAAT, designs conceptual looks for Bluezone every year. SAAT’s unique concept developments underline their long- term experience in the fields of design, denim, and workwear.

The SAATMUNICH Design Studio has established itself as an innovative and reliable partner in the sustainable production of denim products and corporate wear.

Connexxion – The combination

SAAT means “together” in the Indian language and “that which arises from the seed sown” in the German language. Thus, SAAT’s fashion is a harmonious interplay of different factors that always creates something new. The result is a timeless way of work fashion, stylish and individually tailored to the customer’s needs.

Connexxion – The correlation

The Bluezone hostesses’ anniversary look is a selection of Key-Pieces from the previous year’s outfits. The looks represent the exhibitors and the essential components needed to create something unique in the apparel industry.

“THE HOSTESS LOOK” – The boxy crewneck T-shirt, quilted denim vest and denim shorts echo the Connexxion theme and links all the components of the apparel industry, such as, fabrics, graphics and manufacturers needed to create unique and sustainable products for the fashion world.

NEW DATES VIEW and MUNICH FABRIC START

MUNICH FABRIC START, BLUEZONE & VIEW: FULL FLEXIBILITY

18. April 2023

A strong start to the season in July, order decisions at short notice in September

MUNICH FABRIC START Exhibitions GmbH offers one thing above all with the positioning of its trade show formats in terms of dates and content for sourcing for Autumn.Winter 24/25: full flexibility.

In future, the July date will be used by the international fabric trade show MUNICH FABRIC START with KEYHOUSE, THE SOURCE and BLUEZONE as an impulse generator; the September date will remain an important time for follow-ups and for picking up on new and short-term market developments with reVIEW, the new concept of the VIEW PREMIUM SELECTION.

With a current booking level of almost 90% for the international fabric trade show MUNICH FABRIC START, KEYHOUSE, THE SOURCE and BLUEZONE, Munich Fabric Start Exhibitions GmbH is starting the new season for Autumn.Winter 24/25 on a strong footing. From the organisers’ point of view, the main reason for the high level of acceptance from internationally important fabric and trim exhibitors, renowned agencies, top European weavers and textile designers is the rebalancing of the July dates.

Previously, the VIEW PREMIUM SELECTION had taken place at the end of June/beginning of July with a selective choice of high-quality fabric and accessories collections. From 18 to 20 July 2023, the Munich-based trade show organiser will now successfully occupy the early date for the first time with the full power as one of Europe’s leading fabric trade shows: the international fabric trade show MUNICH FABRIC START (18 to 20 July), the innovation hub KEYHOUSE, the one-stop sourcing platform THE SOURCE and the international denim trade show BLUEZONE (18 and 19 July) will move ahead and at the same time increase their relevance in the international trade show scene.

For a large part of the visitors, the earlier date is closer to the collection rhythms and offers more time for further developments. Same goes for the BLUEZONE community and the denim business anyway – the approval for the July date could hardly be greater, which makes the organisers particularly happy on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of BLUEZONE as the first denim dedicated trade show.

Important exhibitors – including returnees – such as Ballesio, Cadica, Discovery Denim, East & Silk, Fauck, Lanificio Campore, Mapel, Naveena Denim, Pricoh’s, Sintopel, Sourcetextile, Studio 9, Taiwan Textile Federation and YKK as well as new entries like Esdigital, IBERIS Lda, Jeanius, Jersey Print Factory, Lucky Textile Group, Marjomotex, Neelams Itl, Splash by Lo, Victor Texteis or Wouters have already confirmed their participation along with many others.

“The strongest and most professional trade show for our segment clearly accommodates our development traits with its date. This date is much closer to our rhythms and, with its strong exhibitor portfolio, MFS has considerably more influence on the creation of our collections.

Especially for Bluezone – a unique, creative and inspiring space for us every time – the date is very convenient as it offers more time for washing developments and creative elaborations. With their ideas and implementations, the MFS & Bluezone team always has its finger on the pulse of time which enables us to incorporate additional inspirations into our work”

Michael Seiter, Head of Product Division Denim & Chino, HOLY FASHION GROUP

What’s new?

Due to the early date of MUNICH FABRIC START and BLUEZONE, the Munich trade show duo with KEYHOUSE and THE SOURCE formats will function even more strongly as an impulse generator and leading international event. The Munich location will also be strengthened by the relocation of the DMI Fashion Day from Düsseldorf to the Bavarian capital. In order to create maximum synergies in terms of travel times and travel costs, the first DMI FASHION DAY LIVE after the pandemic-related interruption will take place the day before the next MUNICH FABRIC START at the MOC.

The course will also be set anew in September: The date, which remains important for the industry, will in future be occupied by reVIEW – the new format of the VIEW PREMIUM SELECTION for follow-ups and highly topical, short-term trends as well as new market developments. On an area of around 2,500 square metres, the first reVIEW Autumn.Winter 24/25 will be held on 13 and 14 September 2023 on the Zenith grounds in Motorworld. With its gigantic dimensions and spectacular architecture, the listed location is one of the largest cantilevered historic steel halls in Europe.

“Trends are short-term and more fast-moving than ever. The presentation and ordering rhythms are constantly shifting. There is no one right time. With two highly relevant dates in July and September, we offer the market security and reliability on the one hand and full flexibility on the other”

Sebastian Klinder, Managing Director MUNICH FABRIC START Exhibitions GmbH

“The feedback from the textile industry as well as from international brands confirms that we have placed the right offer. Both events have great potential and complement each other perfectly. We support the market by offering the right platform at the right time to bring the relevant players together. And we do this without overlapping with other international trade show formats of the fashion business.”

Frank Junker, Creative Director der Munich Fabric Start Exhibitions GmbH

Strong encouragement from the fashion industry

The response is extremely positive, not only from exhibitors but also from international designers, product managers and buyers. In a tense market situation, MUNICH FABRIC START shows strength, forwardlookingness and reliability. MUNICH FABRIC START is the start of the new season and the most important show for early trend information.

“The MUNICH FABRIC START is of great importance for our work – to be more precise, it is indispensable!
The earlier the deadline, the first input for the new collection, the more precise and pointed the result.
The
reVIEW also remains relevant at the new, later date and supports our dynamic design process.”

Katerina Grigoriadis, Head of Design DayDream, MAC Mode GmbH & Co KGaA

“For our team, the new season starts with the MFS. We always take our inspiration from the colours, the forum and the exhibitors and work out our concepts for the collections accordingly. The exchange with producers and exhibitors is also indispensable and both,
MFS and View are a great platform to do so.

We discuss new themes but also previous orders. Meeting everyone at the same time and place in person is a great added value for our cooperation. In the past, we did this in Paris at PV, however this has been completely replaced by MFS.”

Tülay Önder, Head of Product Design, HALLHUBER

“For us, Munich Fabric Start is the most important trade show for preliminary information, for aligning the collection and for matching materials. Next to Milano Unica, it is the most important sourcing show. We welcome the earlier date of Munich Fabric Start very much. Instead of View, it will now be the most important show for us to get information early. We are excited about the process and are looking forward to it.”

Gerhard Kränzle, CEO, HILTL Hosen-Manufaktur GmbH

“The Munich Fabric Start is always an important milestone in our collection development. We are particularly interested in the trend themes and colours, which we compare with our developments to confirm or adapt them accordingly.

We are very keen to attend lectures on relevant topics such as sustainability, CAD, fair labour standards and always look forward to meeting your stars like Li Edelkoort.

The earlier date suits us very well. As knitters we already start with the new colours mid-May so the new date actually fits better into our schedule. A visit to the VIEW is a must in any development process. Since it will now take place in September, we will definitely visit this small and fine.”

Melanie Geyer, Senior Designer Knitwear, MAERZ München

“In my point of view, the early date is a meaningful step. I am pleased about the early overview & choice of collections. I also welcome the fact that flat weave and denim suppliers are brought together at this time. The September event has to prove itself and depends on the new & further developments of the collections. We appreciate both events to date and will continue to use them in the future.”

Michael Willems, Produktmanager, ALBERTO GmbH & Co. KG

Meet Saitex - the vertical Vietnamese Denim Entity

Meet Saitex:

Welcoming the Vietnamese vertical Denim Entity to BLUEZONE 2023

16. January 2023

Global jeans manufacturer Saitex is going vertical as it officially announces the opening of its first denim fabric making mill in Vietnam. The new 100,000 square meter facility is located 40 minutes from its cut & sew factory near Ho Chi Minh City where 18,000 pairs of jeans are made on average per day.

The new mill covers all operations from yarn spinning to weaving and to fabric dyeing and finishing. Saitex has announced it will produce 2 million meters of fabric per month, or 24 million yearly, and some 750 tonnes of yarn per month. These new operations have created 630 new jobs and the company says it will employ 1,000 at full capacity. As it has already done at its cut & sew factory, 20% of the jobs will be filled by people with disabilities.

Like Saitex’s “Factory of the Future” in Los Angeles, CA, the new facility incorporates the latest and lowest impact technologies. The mill is equipped to produce yarns in pure cotton or in blends in dual-core, multiple-core and SiroSPUN technologies.

For indigo dyeing, Saitex has installed the Smart Indigo system that pre-reduces indigo via an electrochemical process. This, the company says, leads to lower CO2 emissions by 90%, requires 70% less energy and 30% less water, with oxygen as the only product released. Karl Mayer rope dyeing machines lead to further environmental savings, thanks to fewer dye bathes, and a 30% reduction in indigo and chemical usage.

Other eco-responsible features at the new site include LEED Gold Certified materials for the building, 15,000 solar panels, greywater recycling and rainwater collection systems. A vegetable garden covers 40% of the total site to feed workers and local communities. Saitex says it has also planted 6,000 trees in the industrial park, and has offset its carbon emissions by planting 50 hectares of mangroves in Vietnam, as part of its plan to contribute to climate neutrality by 2025.

“It has been our long-term vision to close the loop on our operations. With the opening of the mill and the upcoming launch of our textile upcycling facility, Stelapop, our vision will be complete. We will close the circle, allowing us to provide unprecedented transparency in denim production and the ability to turn apparel and textile waste into high-quality goods. Our target is to become the most sustainable fabric mill on the planet making fully circular production possible for our customers.”

Sanjeev Bahl, CEO und Gründer von Saitex

Blue Lenz Denim Video Awards

CARVED IN BLUE/ BLUE LENZ

The winners of the second BLUE LENZ DENIM VIDEO AWARDS are out now!

31. August 2022

Beginning back in 2021, the BLUE LENZ DENIM VIDEO AWARDS is an annual celebration of creativity, technical excellence and innovation in the denim industry.

The Awards take place at Bluezone, the Munich Fabric Start international trade show for denim, street and sportswear.

The BLUE LENZ YouTube channel was launched in January 2020 with the aim to capture and curate all the latest original video content cover stories, education, sustainability initiatives, fabric innovations and trends from the denim community.

Currently hosting more than 430 videos and with upwards of 1,000 followers, the aim is to shine the spotlight on the best and the brightest blue videos, and recognize the best ones with an awards competition in collaboration with Bluezone.

For those of us who grew up in the era of MTV we recall the launch of music videos.  It was at that time that music and videos came to life and that eventually led onto the birth of the MTV Music Video Awards in 1984.

We asked ourselves “Why can’t the denim industry have the same?”

As a category of textiles that boasts some of the deepest roots and richest of histories, denim has been an influential component of popular culture and fashion for centuries. denim is ubiquitous. Denim has impacted music, art, politics, culture – and that is what we hope is reflected in the content of the Blue Lenz Denim Video Awards.

In an effort to highlight and champion the best in our industry, as well as to credit people and teams behind each of the denim videos, we nominated videos in 8 categories.  We enlisted a group of esteemed judges from around the world to debate and deliberate the winners, and it was those winners that were recognized today at the Bluezone/ Munich Fabric Start event.

Our judging panel consisted of:

Michelle Branch
Markt & Twigs

Wouter Munnichs
Long John Denim (NETHERLANDS)

"BENEFIT CAMPUS 22" Collection

SAAT & EVLOX FOR BLUEZONE CAMPUS 2022

H 6 | B 0 5 & H 7 Charity Store

31. August 2022

With a special thanks to BLUEZONE, SAATMUNICH has collaborated with Evlox and the Influencers @robindenim and @koenkuik with a “BENEFIT CAMPUS 22”- Collection, so you can wear your support for Ukraine in the streets and help fund relief on the ground.

The Collection will be represented at the fair that will take place on August 30th-31st.

The collaboration leverages the respective strengths of both the companies to demonstrate the iconic theme of BLUEZONE “CAMPUS 22”. Modern fabric technology from Evlox aligned with the unique concept creations of SAATMUNICH unveils the modern version of CAMPUS RETRO CLASSIC’s.

SAATMUNICH, an experienced full-service design studio from Munich, specialized in creating individual concepts in fashion and corporate wear since 2015 lines up with Evlox, the oldest denim mill in the world that have been manufacturing denim fabrics since 1846, compelling value for both the companies in signalizing the innovation from fabrics to the designs and their continuous investment in new developments.

The BLUEZONE CAMPUS uniforms are designed as a limited edition, with a purpose to support the charity project „FAIR FOR UKRAINE“. The BLUEZONE staff will proudly wear the uniforms and represent the project on the two-day show. Furthermore, there will be installations and competitions that will highlight the outfits.

SAATMUNICH Designs

SAATMUNICH is an experienced full-service design studio from Munich, specialized in creating individual concepts in fashion and corporate wear since 2015. Led by the creative masterminds and power-couple Thorsten Bulander and Sajna Weber, the studio’s aspiration is to utilize resources carefully and show an appreciative attitude towards the customer and individual. Working with some respectable companies – including leading International hotels & fairs – SAATMUNICH shows to be a trustworthy partner, who is carefully tuning in to their clients, building and shaping perfectly fitting concepts.
After successfully partnering with BLUEZONE since 2016 developing the BLUEZONE outfits with different themes and collaborations biannual, the studio has been redesignated to develop the uniforms for the upcoming show with the new collaborator EVLOX.

The theme being the programmer, the designer duo has drawn their inspiration from the golden decade of hip-hop culture and the sports legends such as Dennis Rodman and Michel ‘Air’ Jordan creating the uniforms which they call the ‘Modern Retro CAMPUS Uniforms’ Reinterpreting the past – ‘WU WEAR at its best!’ Says the denim head Thorsten Bulander.

Amidst today’s technologically-driven design culture, there has been a return to the comfort of familiar imagery and typography. New Retro shows how designs from the past can be updated to suit the needs of today, and this is exactly what SAATMUNICH did for BLUEZONE. The BLUEZONE uniforms feature an airy silhouette combined with the best typography presented by high definition embroidery and application. The oversized unisex uniforms are custom designed for the BLUEZONE staff, where great functional attributes derived from fabrics, and a style fitting perfectly to the ‘CAMPUS’ theme of the upcoming show.

Sajna Weber and Thorsten Bulander, the creative minds behind SAAT:

“We chose the fabric “Evlox – Lewis Smoothic” to design these uniforms. The Smoothic Technology by Evlox is a patented manufacturing process that results in a range of smart denim fabrics with a unique velvety feel and ultra-softness offering comfort that is transformed into maximum well-being. These fabrics earn high elasticity and low shrinkage without losing the original and authentic premium denim look. And what’s more, Evlox, continuing with their goal towards a more sustainable production have minimized the use of water and energy on these fabrics.”

EVLOX

The star ensemble is enforced by EVLOX who is taking care of the fabrics for the Campus uniforms. EVLOX is based in Spain and started as a yarn, weaving and stamping factory in 1846. In its more than 175 years of existence, the company specialized in manufacturing denim, reinventing classics and creating new solutions for the world’s most important fashion brands. Today, totally making over 15 million meters of denim, the people behind EVLOX are still sharing the same passion for denim, striving to the highest quality standards in the fabric manufacturing. Their undiminished passion and investments resulted in multiple patented products and processes, and close relationships with the giants from the fashion industry as well as ‘smaller’ – more niche – brands.

For the Campus Uniform, the design studio SAATMUNICH selected two denim fabrics which were made following the patented Smoothic manufacturing process. The Smoothic Technology, a combination of innovation resulting in a range of smart denim fabrics – with a unique velvety feel and ultra-softness offering comfort that is transformed into maximum well-being. These fabrics earn high elasticity and low shrinkage without losing the original and authentic premium denim look. With sustainability at the core of every step, EVLOX managed to minimize the use of water and energy during the production of these fabrics.

The CAMPUS RETRO CLASSIC’s are executed in both an Ecru and a Denim version and are a harmonious balance of the innovative fabric technology from EVLOX aligned with the unique concept creations of SAATMUNICH.
